Hi, I’m Corinne Blackmon - therapist and fellow childhood trauma survivor!
I help adult survivors of childhood trauma discover how their past is impacting their present so that they can find peace and start living life on their own terms.
My Story
My journey to becoming a trauma therapist was a long and winding one. I started off my career in accounting as a CPA; at the time I didn’t know it, but most of my life up until that point was built on my own trauma responses. It wasn’t until I started doing my own work in therapy that I became aware of how my childhood trauma was impacting my life and choices.
As part of my journey to self discovery, I took a leap out of accounting and into the helping field in 2018 when I started a nutrition coaching practice with a local registered dietitian. I quickly found out two things:
that I loved helping clients better themselves and improve their lives, and
what was really holding my clients back wasn’t knowledge, a lack of good habits, or a lack of “discipline” - it was the impact of emotions, mental health, and trauma.
As someone who is always on a quest to provide better help and support to my clients, my journey took me back to school to become a therapist, where I right away began to focus my specialization on childhood trauma and disordered eating. As my journey to becoming a therapist unfolded, I also came to find myself pivoting away from where I had started as a coach (weight loss) and took a dive into intuitive eating (IE) and weight neutrality to work on my own relationship with food, movement, and my body. I now proudly espouse both intuitive eating and a weight neutral approach to health in my work with clients, and I strive to help my clients heal both their childhood trauma and also dieting, food, and body image related trauma.
