My Methods

As a trauma therapist, I know how important it is to help trauma survivors feel safe. One big component of safety is knowing what to expect – so I like to spend time educating my clients on what methods we can use, and why. Therapy can sometimes feel like a big mystery, but I want my clients to feel safe and secure in knowing what we’re doing and why. In my work, I use a few main modalities to help clients heal from their childhood trauma:

  • Inner child parts work, to provide you with tools to help neutralize triggers and give you a concrete way to shift the cruel, inner critic voice in your head to one that is more loving, compassionate, and kind

  • Polyvagal theory, to provide you with an understanding of how your nervous system plays a role in how your body responds to triggers and to give you tools to know how to shift your state and therefore your experience

  • Somatic work, to deal with the physiological effects of trauma on your body, and to help you get relief from the physical sensations associated with your triggers

  • Intuitive eating and a weight neutral approach to health to help you heal your relationship with food, movement, and your body and learn to trust your body again
