My Methods
As a trauma therapist, I know how important it is to help trauma survivors feel safe. One big component of safety is knowing what to expect – so I like to spend time educating my clients on what methods we can use, and why. Therapy can sometimes feel like a big mystery, but I want my clients to feel safe and secure in knowing what we’re doing and why. In my work, I use a few main modalities to help clients heal from their childhood trauma:
Inner child parts work, to provide you with tools to help neutralize triggers and give you a concrete way to shift the cruel, inner critic voice in your head to one that is more loving, compassionate, and kind
Polyvagal theory, to provide you with an understanding of how your nervous system plays a role in how your body responds to triggers and to give you tools to know how to shift your state and therefore your experience
Somatic work, to deal with the physiological effects of trauma on your body, and to help you get relief from the physical sensations associated with your triggers
Intuitive eating and a weight neutral approach to health to help you heal your relationship with food, movement, and your body and learn to trust your body again
